Jeff Barna is a member of ABR’s avian research
team. He has worked on a number of bird migration
and endangered species site-assessment projects
in the Pacific Northwest and the Northeastern United
States using radar as the principle sampling tool.
Jeff brings over 9 years of experience in wildlife
studies to his current position. He has put his
numerous field skills to use on projects in the
National Petroleum Reserve–Alaska, Pawnee
National Grassland in Colorado, and Yellowstone
National Park. Jeff also was a curator of herbaria
at University of California, Santa Cruz, Museum
of Natural History, and a curator of vertebrate
zoology at the Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History
where he prepared, cataloged, and taxonomically
organized all types of plant and animal specimens.
He was a teaching assistant for various biology
classes while pursuing his Master’s of Science
in ecology and evolutionary biology from UCSC, where
he received his degree in 2004. Jeff is an avid
naturalist and enjoys many outdoor activities.
