CD5 Greater White-fronted Goose Study

ABR conducted a multi-year study of nesting by Greater White-fronted Geese in the CD5 area in easternmost NPRA. Nest searches were conducted in permanent plots arranged around a access road and drill site each year. Nests were instrumented with temperature sensors and time-lapse camreras to monitor incubation activity, nest survival, and predation. The study investigated whether nest locations, incubation constancy, and nest survival were affected by development and human activity. The study was conducted 1 year before construction (2013), 2 years during construction (2014, 2015), and 2 years during operations (2017, 2020). A manuscript was prepared summarizing the 5 years of study.
