JOB SUMMARY
ABR is seeking biologists to provide scientific analysis, regulatory documentation, and interagency consultation activities to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in Alaska. The ideal candidates will be detail-oriented and communicative professionals experienced with scientific evaluation and preparation of regulatory documents to assess impacts to protected species and habitats.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide technical assistance to action agencies and applicants
Analyze, interpret, and synthesize scientific data to assess environmental impacts
Manage requests for consultation of impacts to threatened and endangered species
Prepare Biological Opinions, Incidental Take Statements, and Letters of Concurrence
Review biological assessments, permit applications, and consultation packages
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree and three (3) years of experience, or a Master’s degree, from an accredited college or university in aquatic biology, conservation biology, fisheries management, wildlife management or related field of study.
Minimum of one year of experience supporting Section 7 consultations under the Endangered Species Act or similar law (e.g. MMPA, NEPA, CWA, MSA).
Knowledge of the coastal and marine ecology of Alaska.
Ability to articulate, both in the written word and orally, biological and policy information to nontechnical audiences.
Proficiency with MS Office and Google Workplace tools
Ability to work closely with people from diverse scientific and technical backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and be solution‐oriented and a self‐starter.
Proof of eligibility to work in the United States is required if selected for hire.
WAGE
Wage dependent on experience; eligible for full benefits after 3 months of employment.
