Utilities & Telecom

ABR has more than 20 years of experience providing environmental services for utilities and the telecommunications industry throughout Alaska, Hawaii, and the Lower 48 states. In addition to conducting wildlife and habitat surveys, our lead scientists use state-of-the-art equipment and statistically rigorous analyses to assess the spatial and temporal activity patterns of birds and bats near transmission lines and towers. Much of the value that we bring to projects involves the knowledge and techniques that we have developed in-house and use to the benefit of our clients. Some of our services include:

  • Utility-corridor feasibility studies, wildlife collision risk assessment and modeling

  • Pre-development baseline surveys for wetlands, wildlife, and fish

  • Comprehensive ecological land surveys incorporating vegetation, wetlands, and wildlife habitat mapping

  • Endangered, Threatened, and sensitive species studies and consultations

  • Compliance with the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act

  • Post-construction fatality monitoring and modeling of collision risks

  • Environmental impact assessments, NEPA document preparation, and permitting support

  • Land reclamation and ecological restoration work at degraded sites
