Solomon Gulch Hydropower Project Relicensing Assistance (2023–2024)

ABR worked as a subcontractor to Kleinschmidt Associates to assist Copper Valley Electric Association with relicensing the Solomon Gulch Hydroelectric Project in Valdez. This small scale renewable energy project was originally permitted 45 years ago, and upgrades to the baseline environmental information were needed for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to reauthorize continued operation of the project. ABR developed study plans for a set of integrated botanical survey, mapping, and wildlife habitat studies to be conducted in 2024. To streamline the work, we will rely on data collected for the nearby Allison Creek Hydroelectric Project in Valdez, for which ABR conducted biological studies and FERC licensing documents from 2008–2011.
